Over the next two weeks the City of Ottawa will decide whether to proceed with significant investment in facilities at Lansdowne Park. In terms of money, this will be the biggest single decision to be taken by this term of City Council. There will be direct impact on communities nearby but, just as importantly, the commitment of resources to this one project will affect the capacity of the City to respond to other community needs across Ottawa. The schedule for city consideration of Lansdowne is Committee hearings from Wednesday October 29, Audit report release on Tuesday November 4 and Council debate on Friday November 7. A community group, Better Ottawa, is organizing a public information meeting on the Lansdowne 2.0 project to be held in Barrhaven on Monday November 3. Both the proponents of the project and its opponents have been invited to participate In a panel to explain their views and respond to questions from participants. Doors are open at 5:45 at 102 Bill Leathem Drive. Arrangements are being made to have the meeting made available through Rogers TV and YouTube.
